The quarter-life crisis is a term, coined circa November 1965 in Toronta, by psychologist Elliott Jaques, applied to the period of life immediately following the major changes of adolescene, usually ranging from the ages of 21 - 29. The term is named by analogy with mid-life crisis.
Characteristics of this crisis are:
confusion of identity
insecurity regarding the near future
insecurity regarding present accomplishments
re-evaluation of close interpersonal relationships
disappointment with one's job
nostalgia for college life
tendency to hold stronger opinions
boredom with social interactions
financially-rooted stress
loneliness
Not that I'm going through a quarter-life crisis, I just thought it was interesting.
| Last night in my dream, I got into another car accident. This time, I had lost the control and hit the curve and left a huge dent on my car. Then again, it was only a dream.
I had been looking for a new guitar for some months and a couple of weeks ago, I came across this great deal on the guitar that I've always wanted.
http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/choosing/guitars.php?p=z&g=h&m=HD-35
Why pay so much for a guitar? b/c it sounds so much nicer and so much more fun to play. And ever since I bought the guitar, I seriously think got three times better than I was before.
Continuing from my story about the dream, I was thinking maybe I should be careful on the road today. And while I was thinking about the dream, I pulled out the guitar and played a couple of tunes knowing that I'd be satisfy with the tune and the feel, and once again it delievered the sweet sound of rosewood. As I was putting the guitar back in the case, I heard a wood hitting plastic along w/ vibration on my hand; I had bumped my guitar into the case latch. I mean c'mon, talking about irony. I was only putting it away, so it doesn't get bumped into anything.
And now there is a rice grain sized dent on my guitar in the front. I just CAN'T stop thinking about it. I know the first dent in your car (or guitar) is the hardest to get over, but still...
Sigh~ I need help.
Someone hel~p. =( | | |
| Finally! I recovered from my back injury. FYI, I had a car accident some weeks ago, and that amigo just pwned me from behind. I've been playing some basketball while I was hurt, but it hasn't been the same. Not that my back was real healthy before the accident, but at least it seems like I am where I was initially.
Speaking of my back injury, I lost miniature golf to a girl. But hey, I blame my back. Not to mention that her husband was threatening me that if I won, he'd beat the crap out of me. Not that he'd actually do it. =P
When I went to my chiropractor, he told me that my right leg was about an inch shorter than my left. That explains my gangsta walk, my friends. If y'all thought I was just walking like that to look cool, think again. I do it b/c I have to.
Crap is hitting the fan at work. A lot of new projects are piling up. Not that I mind it, but sometimes it could be a little overwhelming. We've hired some new engineers b/c the company is growing pretty fast. Young Mike (of age 40 who is the youngest guy other than me) is leaving though. He's moving back to Iowa to be w/ his family. It's kinda sad to lose such a young fella.
| I got a speeding ticket today.
I was going only 63 on 45 mph zone. I thought there was a rule that you only pull over people that's going 30 over the speed limit. ok. I lied -- I guess it's 10, not 30.
Ticket will run at least a couple of hundreds of dollars and my insurance bill will also go up.
What a way to start a day.
